Innocent When You Dream left me wondering what the point of it all was. If I had to sum it all up in one word, tedious would be it.
Should you see it?
Innocent When You Dream had a premise that intrigued me, but ultimately it was too slow and lacking in genuine laughs to hook me in. Essentially, a man trapped in the belly of a whale ends up telling the stories of Moby Dick and Don Quixote. While there is the occasional giggle, I generally found myself waiting for the show to switch into a higher gear. Alas, I was still waiting for that as the lights dimmed and the show ended.
The best part of the show is the puppet companion to the main character as it provides the only real laughs throughout. It’s also the only other character that shows any personality. However, you can tell performer Zeb L. Wells is constantly trying to charm the audience, but it never really connects. It’s sad as there is some good staging in the show. Ultimately, I’d say pass on this.
But that’s just what I thought. Please share your opinions in the comments section below.
