Nick Carter (No, not that one) takes you on a journey through the scientific wonderland of nature, from dinosaurs to bees to aliens and beyond.
Should you see it?
Carter kicks off his performance with a slideshow of animals doing funny things, which is always a winner in my books. What follows is part stand up comedy routine, part PowerPoint presentation. I learned some things, and I laughed at some things – often at the same time!
I did laugh quite consistently throughout The Nature of Things of Nature, even though Carter did throw out a groaner from time to time. Some jokes fell flat, but I feel like that’s par for the course with stand-up. Although the images were delightful, it may not have been necessary to have so many of them. While they added to some jokes, they did distract from others.
Still, The Nature of Things of Nature is a fun way to spend an hour and a nice palate cleanser if you’re looking for something to break up your heavy theatre schedule.
But that’s just my opinion, and I’d love to know what you think! Did you learn anything interesting from Carter’s routine? What was your favorite part? Join the discussion in the comments below.
