Jeff Leard returns to Ottawa Fringe with another hilarious one man show with enough energy to take us to the edge of the Galaxy in Zach Zultana: Space Gigolo.
Should you see it?
Zach Zultana is your typical space miner, working the asteroid belt, day in and day out. Zach’s life is pretty mundane until the day he meets Alex, a mysterious woman who takes him away on her space ship for a romantic weekend and returns him a changed man. Zach’s life is thrown for a loop when it turns out that Alex is also the wife of his boss.
I can’t express how much joy I felt while taking in this show. Jeff Leard is absolutely engaging and can hold an audience from start to finish. His characters and accents are spot on; they all have their own unique personality traits which Leard keeps in line flawlessly.
One of the best parts of this play is when Jeff breaks character and takes the audience on a wild ride of how the shots in this scene would look like if we were taking in a film of this epic magnitude on the big screen, and he does it so convincingly that you’re right there with him for the entire ride.
You can’t take this show seriously, but you will enjoy it so much that it’s not fair to yourself to miss it! Seriously, this play is so much silly fun; it’s over the top, extremely physical and full of quick quips, wits and double entendres to keep you laughing the entire time. Your Fringe is not complete until you’ve seen Zach Zultana: Space Gigolo.
